The story of Ashab al-Kahf

The People of the Cave (Ashab al-Kahf) were a group of young believers who lived in a city that worshipped idols. Rather than give up their faith in the one God, they chose to leave everything behind and take shelter in a cave, placing their trust entirely in Allah.

There, Allah caused them to fall into a sleep that lasted 309 years, watching over them and their faithful dog at the entrance. When they finally awoke, thinking only a day had passed, they discovered that the world outside had changed and that belief in Allah had spread through their land. Their story became a sign for everyone who came after them.

Told in Surah al-Kahf, their story teaches children that standing firm in faith — even when you feel alone and outnumbered — is never truly alone, because Allah protects those who turn to Him.
